Before you get started, I want to recommend four things. These points will help you to better understand what you can achieve by going through my Google Business Profile (GBP from here onwards) optimisation checklist:

•  Learn where you can rank with your GBP: Understand that with your GBP profile, you will rank in multiple places online: in Google Maps, Local Pack, and Organic Search Results. Learn more about this in my Google Business Profile Ranking in Search Results Explained article.

• You need to put yourself into your customer’s perspective: When going through the checklist, I want you to remove the business operator hat and do anything you can to optimise your GBP with your customers’ perspectives in mind.

• Understand the ranking factors: Mastering your Google Business profile starts with understanding how it works. In this article, I will explain how focusing on the basic key elements, such as distance, relevance, and reputation will help you rank better. Learn more about this in my How to do Google Business the Right Way article.

• !!! Never update the following all at once !!! Avoid updating your business name, your main category, your website link, your phone number, and your address at the same time. Google might consider it suspicious activity and suspend you. Change them one by one and wait a few days before changing the next one!!!
